US President Donald Trump’s fixation on the acquisition of Greenland from Denmark as well as his self-proclaimed role in bringing peace in the Israel-Palestine conflict has been making headlines since the beginning of the new year. In the aftermath of his recent Venezuela quest, many have been speculating the tensions that could arise between the US and Denmark as the European Union proceeds to step in between to defend the latter from the ensuing geopolitical crises. Although there are other equally pivotal players in this scenario, one particular incident has caught many by surprise.
During one of the sessions at the World Economic Forum this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk mocked US President Trump for his attempts bring peace in the Israel-Palestine crisis with the Gaza plan. Simultaneously, during the session moderated by BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, Musk criticized the US President’s intentions to acquire Greenland as well as the measures he has been taking for the same.
Elon Musk ridicules US President Donald Trump’s Gaza Plan
During this year’s World Economic Forum event held in Davos, Tesla CEO Elon Musk cracked a humorous jibe at US President Donald Trump’s Peace Summit in relation to the Gaza plan as well as his endeavors to acquire Greenland.
The resulting tussle between the US Republican government and Denmark has led to several speculations regarding the reasons and purposes associated with such a geopolitcal decision. Given the degree of influence President Trump has exerted on international politics since his second return to the White House in 2024, the Greenland topic has emerged as a bone of contention between the US and Denmark.
However, Elon Musk did not miss the opportunity to mock the US President for his fixation on Greenland. Known for their on-and-off associations, the former Head of DOGE sat with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink during a session at the World Economic Forum this year to address the same. In the course of the event, Musk said, “I heard about the formation of the Peace Summit and I was like, “P I E C E?”” In response, the audience broke into a fit of laughter along with Fink.
Musk continued, “You know, a little piece of Greenland, a little piece of Venezuela.” The Tesla CEO then added, “All we want is peace.” Although he then resumed talking about solar power and its potential in the near future, his jibe at President Trump’s actions with regard to Venezuela and Greenland became a major highlight at the event.

Netizens react to Elon Musk’s mockery of Donald Trump
Elon Musk’s jibe at US President Donald Trump’s attempts to acquire Greenland from Denmark has triggered a varying series of reactions from users on social media. Many associated the Tesla CEO’s remark to the infamous song by Mel Brooks in the 1983 satire film “To Be or Not to Be.” Some users even attached gifs and videos of the song’s snippet to highlight could possibly be referred to by Musk in his remark.

However, a handful of users on the same X (formerly Twitter) post by @clashreport stated something else. Some mocked Musk for rehearsing the bit and pointed out that he may not have been genuine with his sudden remark. Others questioned the public role of billionaires in commenting on geopolitical issues such as that of Greenland.
The ultimate irony of this, he obviously thought of (and likely rehearsed) this line many times and yet he came up with a joke anyone over the age of 5 will find painfully cringey

Given his topsy-turvy association with US President Donald Trump, the jibe made by Elon Musk may not be a surprise to many. Although he was formerly invited to the White House during the US-Saudi Investment event last year, Musk has never stepped away from criticizing President Trump’s actions and decisions in public and on social media.
