Latest reports regarding the upcoming medical trial of puberty suppressing hormones (PSH), or puberty blockers, have been making headlines lately. As per details of the new UK clinical trial, it will measure the dangers and benefits of drugs that facilitate puberty blocking in children diagnosed with gender incongruence. It is set to be administered on about 220 children under the age of 16 who are currently undergoing puberty. The test will study how the drug affects the subject’s physical, emotional and social wellbeing.
Many medical experts have raised doubts regarding how ethical the study is. Given the controversial backdrop of the trial, many are vehemently opposing the medical study. People have taken to social media to express their concerns on child welfare and questioned the legality of such a study. And Elon Musk recently shared a similar opinion.
