During the U.S. Saudi Investment Forum at Washington this month, Jensen Huang made an astonishing prediction about the role of AI in Computer Science. The NVIDIA CEO stated that artificial intelligence will very soon attain the capability to generate software that will be tailor-made as per the requirements of the user. With much determination, Huang expressed his hopes of seeing software being created by AI in real time.
This remark has invited significant criticism from among netizens on social media. With much uncertainty regarding the questions of sales, chip technology, and algorithms, manu users questioned the basis of Huang’s claim that artificial intelligence will be able to generate software in the near future.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang foresees AI generating software
At the U.S. Saudi Investment Forum at Washington this month, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang spoke about the promising role of AI in the field of Computer Science. He spoke of a future where softwares could be generated by AI models on the basis of the parameters and necessities specified beforehand by the user in their prompts. Huang said, “Today, software is going to be generated in real-time. It’s generative.”

He elaborated further, “Based on the context, based on the circumstance, based on who you are, based on the problem you asked, based on the prompt, they will generate unique content for you. Every single time, for everybody, it’s unique.”
In short, artificial intelligence will be able to build software that are customized in a manner that would suit the needs of every user. This implies that every software generated by AI will vary from person to person. However, netizens believe otherwise.

Netizens disagree with Jensen Huang’s vision of AI-generated softwares
Users flocked to the comment section of the video from the event, shared on Yahoo Finance’s official X account, to share their concerns regarding a possible future of AI-generated software. Some of the netizens raised the issue of monetization of software, and how it may not be a sustainable idea in the event of AI generating software for every single user in real-time.
How do we monetize software if everyone can generate it in real time? Or should we even do that

Another group of users in the comments shed light on the centrality of algorithms. One of them opined that algorithms are supposed to be “adaptive” in nature and not simply prioritize quick solutions.
Building algorithms is not simply a function of all known permutations at one time but longitudinally what will occur that has not been recognized yet. These models will need to be adaptive and not just on-the-spot.

A third group of netizens on the X post expressed their belief that a future of AI-generated software may not be as close as the NVIDIA CEO deems it to be. They further mentioned that the risk of AI hallucination could further jeopardize the integrity of a software generated by AI.
This won't happen for quite a while yet and even then human oversight will be needed. AI is a tool. A very useful tool but not reliable enough for this, especially when they tend to hallucinate. Not trustworthy enough yet at all.

To discover AI being able to generate software in accordance with the demands and necessities by users is indeed a marvelous idea. Perhaps the idea itself currently faces challenges stemming from financial obstructions, technical uncertainties as well as doubts over AI hallucination. Yet, a future where AI would become a pivotal entity in software engineering could be possible.
