Elon Musk Believes Grok’s Latest Update Is Better Than GPT-5.2

Just as OpenAI launched GPT-5.2, xAI CEO Elon Musk recently made an important announcement about their own AI model, Grok. Released around the same time as GPT-5.1 during mid-November this year, Musk shared a surprising aspect of Grok 4.1 that also came as a surprise to LLM users and developers. In one of his latest posts on X, the Tesla chief executive seemed impressed with Grok 4.1’s efficiency when pitted against one of its biggest rivals in the AI market, GPT-5.2.

This new development has made quite a mark on social media, as many ponder over Grok 4.1’s potential as an agentic tool. Many netizens shared how impressed they were with the rapid developments made by the team behind Grok 4.1. However, some users wondered about xAI’s LLMs’ functionality regarding complex workflows and the potential for varied utility by employees themselves.

On December 15, Elon Musk took to his X (formerly Twitter) to repost @XFreeze’s previous post. The original post featured an animated graphic representation of Grok 4.1’s performance in the aspect of “τ²-Bench-Verified Agentic Tool Use.” The LLM from xAI has been compared with the latest version of OpenAI’s own AI model, GPT-5.2, which was released this month.

In the repost, Tesla CEO Elon Musk included just two words in his caption: “Not bad.” This encompasses not merely the rapid advancements Grok has undergone as an AI tool, but also the promising nature of xAI’s LLM, which is capable of serving as a resourceful, agentic tool. In fact, some users on social media shared a similar sentiment pertaining to the success of Grok as an AI model since its inception. Others, however, raised certain questions regarding the credibility of Grok when made available for public evaluation.

Grok surpassing ChatGPT surprises netizens

In one of Elon Musk’s most recent posts on X (formerly Twitter), the Tesla CEO acknowledged Grok 4.1’s capabilities as a superior AI tool compared to GPT-5.2 in its xhigh state. Given the statistical difference between their respective efficiency in terms of the τ²-Bench-Verified Agentic Tool Use, Grok 4.1 has indeed built its own niche as an AI tool that helps generate unique and brilliant results in the form of useful responses and quality illustrations. And many netizens believe the same.

Some users took to the comment section of Musk’s repost to highlight that most programmers reportedly opt for Grok for their professional needs.

However, some users in the comments chose to disbelieve the statistical information posted by X user @XFreeze. Instead, they shed light on the need to release Grok for public evaluation of its efficiency and productivity.

Indeed, it is a necessity to have access to a useful AI model that helps automate tasks and deliver results in optimal conditions. At the same time, it is also crucial to take into account how the AI model itself is able to rectify itself during challenging times. Only then can it be worth asking whether it wins the approval of tech professionals or requires more upgrades to give Grok the edge it deserves to counter its contemporaries.
