Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently commented on Open Society Foundation (OSF) chair Alex Soros’ post on social media. The latter reposted an X post by OSF on the curtailment of figure of speech in the U.S.. The original post by the X profile of Open Society Foundations also mentioned that they would take legal action if need be. Alex Soros reposted it, expressing his full support to the organization.
Hours later, the SpaceX chief executive reacted to the post with a sharp jibe, criticizing Soros’ policies as part of OSF. Since then, Musk’s post has received nearly 4 million views at the time of writing. In the meantime, Musk’s reply has invited varied reactions from social media users.
Elon Musk criticizes Alex Soros for his post on OSF
On November 19, Alex Soros, chair of the Board of Directors at the Open Society Foundations (OSF) took to X to share a post by the organization. It consisted an excerpt from a statement released by its President, Binaifer Nowrojee. The post stated, “Open Society has not changed anything that it’s doing, and if we feel that our rights for free speech or the right for peaceful protest is being infringed on, we will move to court to defend our rights.“

In the caption, the X post by OSF also highlighted that they they are “dedicated to strengthening democracy and upholding constitutional freedoms.” They mentioned that their activities are peaceful, adhere to the law, and the organization’s grantees “are required to comply with the law.” Immediately after, it got reposted by Alex Soros with the caption, “As the great DMX once said, ‘We ain’t going anywhere.‘”
Later, the Tesla CEO took to the comment section of Soros’s post to write, “Can you stop trying to destroy civilization for like 5 mins? That would be great.” Musk’s remark has won much approval from netizens, as many criticized Soros’s as well as OSF’s controversial actions in international politics. On the other hand, other users attacked Musk’s political stance and his views on free speech.

Elon Musk’s endorsements of certain endeavors, political and professional, have often been questioned for their moral basis with regard to global issues. At the same time, Alex Soros and his family’s association with OSF has been heavily criticized for their controversial involvements. What matters most in incidents like these is making a choice that would benefit the deprived and keep the privileged in check.
