Samsung Topples Apple in AI Game With Perplexity Integrated in Galaxy S26 Phones

AI is the name of the game right now, and smartphone companies are leaving no stone unturned to integrate LLMs into their devices. The latest reports suggest that Perplexity AI will be seamlessly embedded into the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 series.

The South Korean tech giant appears keen to capture market share in the new phase of mobile artificial intelligence. So, without further delay, let’s get into the exact details of this new AI integration in the Galaxy S26 lineup.

Samsung aims for a multi-AI ecosystem

According to multiple media reports, Perplexity AI’s integration into the Galaxy ecosystem won’t be a standalone app installation. Instead, it will be a system-level implementation of the AI model, allowing interaction with native apps and device features.

With this recent move, the smartphone company is embracing a multi-AI ecosystem, which already includes its in-house assistant Bixby and Google’s Gemini. Reportedly, users will be allowed the option to choose between assistants to perform a task — whether it’s conversational search, productivity assistance, or contextual device control.

“We’ve been committed to building an open and inclusive integrated AI ecosystem that gives users more choice, flexibility and control to get complex tasks done quickly and easily,” said Won-Joon Choi, President and COO of the Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “Galaxy AI acts as an orchestrator, bringing together different forms of AI into a single, natural, cohesive experience,” he continued.

Samsung’s latest move might just set the trend for how smartphone AI evolves, where the old model of one dominant assistant could be replaced by a layered AI structure. With the heft of Samsung’s own software, Google’s large language models, and Perplexity’s real-time answer engine, Galaxy users may be able to perform a host of complex tasks. The latest AI integration might just be the factor that gives Samsung a competitive edge.

For the uninitiated, Apple recently unveiled the Apple Intelligence framework that integrates generative AI features directly within iOS, largely anchored around an upgraded Siri experience. While Apple has partnered with external AI providers for certain capabilities, its ecosystem does not currently offer the flexibility to choose between multiple AI models at the system level.

AI integration at the operating system level means smarter search within apps and potentially enhanced productivity tools across Notes, Calendar, Gallery, and other native services. It remains to be seen how well these features are executed, because poor implementation could lead to a complicated system to navigate that might disrupt the user interface experience. Nevertheless, the new features could make Samsung devices stand out in an increasingly saturated premium smartphone market.

As the current scenario stands, Apple still rules much of the smartphone ecosystem due to the distinctiveness of its user interface, strong brand loyalty, and its tightly controlled hardware–software ecosystem. That said, Samsung’s experimentation with a multi-assistant framework might just turn out to be a market disruptor.

The Galaxy S26 may mark the beginning of a new era in smartphone artificial intelligence, where users are no longer limited to a single AI model but can instead choose the assistant that works best for a particular function.
